Read 100 Books with Someone You Love—Then Celebrate with Us!

At the Library, we believe there’s no better way to spend time with a young child than by reading together. That’s why we created the Read 100 Books with Someone You Love challenge—a special initiative just for families with children ages 0–5.

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, teacher, or a beloved babysitter, this challenge is a joyful opportunity to share stories and spark a lifelong love of reading before your little one starts Kindergarten.

How It Works

We’ve handpicked 100 outstanding picture books that are perfect for reading aloud. These books are funny, heartfelt, engaging, and absolutely worth reading again (and again).

You can:

  • Track your progress in Beanstack – the same app we use for Summer Reading. Each time you finish a book, log it and complete a quick activity to earn a badge.
  • Browse the full list online or in print – pick up a printed copy at the Library or view the list of titles in our catalog.
  • Visit our dedicated 100 Books display – all 100 titles are available to browse and borrow from the wall above the picture book boxes in the Children’s Department.

When you finish all 100 books, stop by the Library to pick up an official certificate and a free book to celebrate your achievement!

Reading just 20 minutes a day can make a big difference in preparing kids for school—and it’s even better when done with someone who cares.

Join Us for the 100 Books Celebration!

Whether you’ve just started your reading journey or already reached the finish line, we’d love for you to join us for a 100 Books Celebration on Wednesday, May 21 at 4 PM.

Kids in grades K–6 are invited to enjoy story-inspired snacks and hands-on activities:

  • Make Gruffalo Crumble from The Gruffalo
  • Guess the mystery puppet from Bark, George
  • Craft your own Pete the Cat paper bag puppet!

We’ll also have information and signup options for families ready to begin the challenge—and a little something special for those who’ve already completed it.
