Have questions about your property taxes? Want to apply for a refund or make sure you’re receiving every exemption you’re eligible for? You’re in luck—representatives from the Natrona County Assessor’s and Treasurer’s Offices will be visiting the Library this week to assist with just that.
Whether you need help completing paperwork, understanding recent changes, or simply want a friendly face to walk you through it all, these drop-in sessions are designed to make property tax assistance more accessible to the community.

What Help Is Available?
From the Assessor’s Office:
The Assessor’s team will be on hand both days to help with applications, provide information, and answer questions about several key exemptions for 2025:
Veterans Exemption (Doubled for 2025!)

Up to $400 off your property tax bill or $180 off vehicle registration

Requires Wyoming residency (3+ years) and qualifying military service

Must provide a DD-214; if claiming by disability, also include a disability letter

Deadline: Monday, May 27, 2025
Long-Term Homeowners Exemption (New for 2025–2026 Only)

50% off your primary residence and up to 35 acres of land
-
Must be 65+ and have paid property taxes in Wyoming for 25+ years

Deadline: Monday, May 27, 2025
Homeowners Exemption (New for 2025)

Automatically applies 25% off to all single-family homes and associated land
-
No application required for 2025

Starting 2026, it will be limited to owner-occupied homes and will require an application
-
Note: Those receiving the Long-Term Homeowners Exemption won’t qualify for this one until 2027
Residential Property Cap

A 4% cap on annual property tax increases for single-family homes and land

Automatically applied—no application needed

Does not apply to new owners, newly constructed homes, or additions until 2026

On Friday, May 23, the Treasurer’s Office will be present to help with:
Property Tax Refund/Rebate Program

Eligible residents may receive a portion of their 2024 property taxes refunded

Staff will assist with applications and even submit them directly to Cheyenne to save you the postage
