Attack on Titan series by Hajime Isayama
It has been nearly a hundred years since the fall of humanity. The titans, giant humanoid creatures with a taste for flesh, came seemingly from nowhere and drove the remaining humans behind three protective stone walls. Behind these walls, humanity has managed to survive while the titans roam outside. Only the Survey Corps, a military group trained in fighting titans, are brave enough to venture beyond the walls to try and find out the secrets of the monsters that once almost wiped out human life. Eren Yeager, a young boy who has lived behind the walls his whole life, dreams of joining the Survey Corps so that he can see the outside world. His wish is granted, with horrifying results, when a colossus titan appears with a lighting strike and kicks a hole into the first wall, allowing titans to get in. Eren’s mother is slaughtered by a titan while Eren and his adopted sister, Mikasa, are forced to flee to the safety of the other remaining walls. After watching his mother die and his city burn, Eren swears revenge on the titans. Years later, and now as a young man, Eren is finally in training to join the Survey Corps, the urge for vengeance still burning in his chest. Will Eren just be prey for the titans, or will he become the hunter?
I picked this manga up because it was so original and strange.
I finished this book because it was a bit terrifying and very suspenseful.
I’d give this book to any action fan, or to someone who is looking for something different in manga format.
