Social Security Retirement Seminar @ Crawford Room

Are you ready for retirement? Social Security is part of the retirement plan of almost every American worker. Join Mickie Douglas and David Baier for this special live webcast at the Natrona County Library to learn how the system works and how to find out how much you’ll receive at retirement. This seminar will explain how you qualify for benefits, how the benefit is figured, how earnings and age affect your benefits, which other family members may get benefits because of your work, and what you should consider when deciding when to start your Social Security benefits. We’ll include several important reminders about Medicare. Our best seminar take-away is how our online tools and services can streamline how you do business with Social Security. Paws to Read: StoryTime with Therapy Dogs of Casper @ Crawford Room

Paws to Read with a furry friend! Dogs and handlers will attend StoryTime on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the Natrona County Library. Children can sit with therapy dogs during StoryTime and spend time reading with them before and after the program. All dogs are certified and licensed through Therapy Dogs of Casper.

We’ve made it our goal to remedy this epidemic sweeping the nation’s frig art and kitchen galleries. Tween Monday: String Art @ Crawford Room

String theory is the theoretical framework in physics in which the point-like particles of particle physics are replaced by one-dimensional objects called strings. STRING ART is not nearly as complicated, and far more fun to grasp. FamilySearch Workshop: Getting Started @ Tech Center

In your quest to discover your family history it might be time to take another look at FamilySearch’s online offerings. The genealogy giant’s free online databases of digitized historical documents have now surpassed 2 billion images of genealogy records with millions more being added weekly from countries around the world. The free genealogy records include censuses, birth, marriage, death, court, immigration and other document types that are invaluable for individuals to make personal family history discoveries and connections. Join us at the Natrona County Library to learn about using the free genealogical website, FamilySearch.org, in 3 parts. We will be using the computers at the library to set up your own account and then begin searching records for your own family.

  • Tuesday, March 10th from 5:30-7:00pm; Finding records/sources using the index to search records.

Never Too Old Book Club: “A Study in Charlotte” by Brittany Cavallaro @ Metro Coffee Co.

Cricut Project: Love is in the Air Deco @ Creation Station

3D Printer Intro and Demo @ Creation Station

Patrons of all ages are invited to learn about the Natrona County Library’s 3D printer on Tuesday, February 18 at 4 pm in the Creation Station. A staff member will provide an overview and demonstration. The 3D printer is provided by the Natrona County Library Foundation. The Library’s Creation Station is a flexible, community, collaborative makerspace for individuals and small groups of all ages who can use STEAM-related supplies and equipment to bring their inventions and creations to life. Humanities Festival Book Discussion: “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman @ Casper College Krampert Theater Building, Thomas Empey Studio Theatre

In participation with the Casper College Humanities Festival, the Natrona County Library will be hosting this year’s book discussion on Tuesday, February 18 at 5 pm in the Thomas Empey Studio Theatre at Casper College. The Yellow Wallpaper Book Club Discussion will be moderated by Georgia Wheatley, and will immediately follow a special performance by student performers from the Casper College Production. “The Yellow Wallpaper,” written in 1892 by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, illustrates early beliefs surrounding the mental and physical health of women. The Man in the Arena: A Celebration of Theodore Roosevelt @ Crawford Room

Attend a talk on Teddy Roosevelt and his love of books at Natrona County Library on February 19 at 6:30 pm. “The Man in The Arena” is a celebration of Theodore Roosevelt – the essential American. Owen Wister, who knew him well, called him “the most American American who ever lived!” There is no subject about which he did not thirst for knowledge: history, politics, philosophy, nature, linguistics, taxidermy, poetry – the list is endless. He loved books – he read in seven languages, including Portuguese. He wrote books – thirty-six books in all on a bewildering variety of subjects. He was a man who loved to talk philology with Harvard professors and bug collections with six-year-olds. Co-Sponsored by Artcore, KUYO, the Des & Carrie Bennion Family/The Bon Agency, KCWY 13, Natrona County Library and the Ramkota.
