Getting to Know Your Telescope @ Crawford Room

Trail Walk and Author Talk and Signing: Jennifer Pharr Davis @ Crawford Room
Aug 6 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

The Natrona County Library will host athlete, author, speaker, and National Geographic “Adventurer of the Year” Jennifer Pharr Davis on Tuesday, August 6 at 6:30 p.m. An optional trail walk with the author will precede the event starting at 5:30 p.m. on the Casper Rail Trail outside the Library. The event is free and open to the public.

Jennifer Pharr Davis has logged more than 14,000 miles of long distance trails on six different continents. In 2011, she set the overall fastest known time on the Appalachian Trail by hiking 47 miles a day for 46 straight days. Jennifer has written articles for The New York Times, Outside magazine, Backpacker, and Trail Runner and has been featured in the Washington Post, NPR’s Talk of the Nation, and the CBS Early Show. She will be sharing slides and stories, answering questions, and signing copies of her new book The Pursuit of Endurance: Harnessing the Record Breaking Power of Strength and Resilience, which Kirkus Reviews calls “a captivating narrative guidebook that will inspire readers to test their own limits, on the trail and off.”

We’re proud to partner with Google and welcome #GrowWithGoogle to Wyoming! Join us at the Natrona County Library to grow your skills, career, or business on August 26th from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Register for the free event at g.co/GrowWyoming.

The ‘Grow with Google’ initiative aims to help create economic opportunity in communities across the United States by training Wyomingites on free Google tools and resources designed to help them find the jobs they want, advance their careers, and grow their businesses. Google will kickstart this work locally by hosting free, one-day events in two libraries across our state to help job seekers, small business owners, students, educators and entrepreneurs improve their digital skills.

3:30 PM – 4:30 PM: Digital Skills for Everyday Tasks

Make the most of your time by managing your work in Google Sheets and creating a meeting agenda in Google Docs that drives your project forward and keep you on pace.

One Book Wyoming: Hemingway’s “In Our Time” @ Reference

Beginning Tuesday, September 3, patrons can pick up their copy of this year’s One Book Wyoming. One Book Wyoming invites all of Wyoming to read and talk about a single book or author. In conjunction with Sheridan College and Wyoming Humanities’ multi-year National Endowment for the Humanities grant, “Creating Humanities Communities along the Hemingway Highway”, the Wyoming State Library and Wyoming Humanities have selected Hemingway’s first short story collection, “In Our Time,” as 2019’s One Book Wyoming.
