Carvey: Easel Intro and Project @ Creation Station

Learn about the Natrona County Library’s Carvey on Wednesday, January 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. A staff member will provide an overview of the Carvey software, Easel, in the Tech Center followed by a demonstration of the Carvey in the Creation Station as well as answer any questions attendees may have. The Library’s Creation Station is a flexible, community, collaborative makerspace for individuals and small groups of all ages who can use STEAM-related (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) supplies and equipment to bring their inventions and creations to life. Paws to Read: StoryTime with Therapy Dogs of Casper @ Crawford Room

Paws to Read with a furry friend! Dogs and handlers will attend StoryTime on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the Natrona County Library. Children can sit with therapy dogs during StoryTime and spend time reading with them before and after the program. All dogs are certified and licensed through Therapy Dogs of Casper.

Humanities Festival Book Discussion @ Crawford Room

As part of the 34th Annual Casper College Humanities Festival and Demorest Lecture, the Natrona County Library and Casper College Goodstein Foundation Library will host a book discussion on Tuesday, February 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Natrona County Library. Facilitated by Joseph Campbell, Ph.D., this discussion will review the short story, “In a Grove” by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, that inspired Rashomon. Casper College actors, under the direction of William Conte, Ph.D., will perform scenes to enhance the review of this literary work. FamilySearch Workshop: Getting Started @ Tech Center

The Family History Center, in partnership with the Natrona County Library, will hold their first monthly FamilySearch workshop on Tuesday, February 12 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Natrona County Library. In this month’s class, Genealogist Cindy Blevins will provide a brief lesson on using the free genealogy program FamilySearch.org, followed by a demonstration on how to create a FamilySearch account and how to add family members to your tree. Additional Family History Center volunteers will be on hand for one-on-one assistance. Computers will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring a memory storage device for saving files. Personal laptops can also be used. Pedigree charts to help you get started are available at the second floor desk at the Natrona County Library. Follow-up lessons on finding hints, sources, and hard-to-find records will follow on March 12 and April 9.
