Leatherworking: Coasters @ Creation Station

The Natrona County Library will offer two Leatherworking classes on Friday, January 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. in the Creation Station. Staff will familiarize you with leatherworking tools and techniques followed by a coaster project where you’ll be able to make your own leather coaster. Serger: Easy Burrito Pillowcases @ Creation Station

Learn how to make a pillowcase using the Natrona County Library’s serger during a drop-in session on Monday, January 7 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Creation Station. Planning Your Hunt: Wyoming Game & Fish Department’s Hunt Planner @ Crawford Room

The Natrona County Library will offer a class on planning your next hunt, thanks to a partnership with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD), on Thursday, January 10 at 6 p.m. Wildlife Management Coordinator Justin Binfet will discuss the WGFD’s Hunt Planner website followed by live demos. You can learn more about the WGFD’s Hunt Planner website at wgfd.wyo.gov/Hunting/Hunt-Planner. Another class on fishing will be offered in February. The library and WDFD’s hunting and fishing series aims to help families as well as new hunters and anglers connect with nature by providing the knowledge and confidence that newcomers need to have fun fishing and hunting. Paws to Read: StoryTime with Therapy Dogs of Casper @ Crawford Room

Paws to Read with a furry friend! Dogs and handlers will attend StoryTime on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the Natrona County Library. Children can sit with therapy dogs during StoryTime and spend time reading with them before and after the program. All dogs are certified and licensed through Therapy Dogs of Casper.

Afternoon Book Club: One Dead Spy: Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales #1 by Nathan Hale @ Metro Coffee Co.

An afternoon book club, sponsored by the Natrona County Library, will be held on Saturday, January 12 at 2 p.m. at Metro Coffee Co. Participants will discuss “One Dead Spy: Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales #1” by Nathan Hale. The group is open to teens in grades 7-8, and new members are always welcome. Participants receive a free drink, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. To participate, pick up a copy of “One Dead Spy: Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales #1” in the Teen Zone. Tween Monday: I Survived @ Crawford Room

Based on the popular book series ?I Survived? by Lauren Tarshis, the Natrona County Library will offer a series of STEAM activities connected to historic events, natural disasters, and other topics for children in grades 4-6 on Monday, January 14 at 4 p.m. Make a boat out of aluminum foil and see if it floats at the “I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912” station. Construct buildings with Legos on a cookie sheet and then shake the pan to see what happens to the buildings at the “I Survived the San Francisco Earthquake, 1906” station. Make a tornado in a bottle at the “I Survived the Joplin Tornado, 2011” station, track sharks online at the “I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916” station, or create a hurricane at the “I Survived Hurricane Katrina, 2004” station.
