The Natrona County Public Library offers Notary services for the benefit of the community. The following guidelines will be observed in the provision of Notary service:
- Our Notaries are sometimes busy in other parts of the Library, which is why we recommended that patrons call us beforehand to verify that a Notary is available when they plan to visit.
- Valid (government-issued) photo identification is required for everyone requesting notary service.
- The Library reserves the right to limit the number of documents notarized to 6 per person per visit.
- The Notary and the person seeking notarization must be able to communicate directly with each other. Library Notaries are not permitted to make use of a translator in a transaction with a Notary patron. Natrona County Library currently has one Spanish-speaking Notary on staff.
- The Library will not provide witnesses and witnesses may not be solicited from among other patrons. To serve as a witness, the witness must personally know the person whose documents are being notarized and must present valid photo identification.
- Notaries may not notarize blank forms.
- The Notary is not an attorney licensed to practice law, and he/she may not give legal advice or accept fees for legal service.
- Do NOT sign your document in advance. All documents must be signed in the presence of the notary. The document must be completely filled out prior to meeting with the notary, leaving no blanks other than the signature and notary statement.
- Library Notaries will not provide service if the patron, document, or circumstances of the request for Notary service raise any issues of authenticity, ambiguity, doubt, or uncertainty for the Library. In this event, the Notary may, at his/her sole discretion, decline to provide Notary service.
