“After the Flood” by Kassandra Montag
Read the book that everyone will be talking about! The American Library Association (ALA) and OverDrive have collaborated on a national "digital book club" which connects readers nationwide with simultaneous access to the same ebook through their public libraries. This program, called the Libraries Transform Book Pick, offers the new riveting post-apocalyptic novel After the Flood by Kassandra Montag.
Natrona County Library will be offering unlimited ebook copies of the first selection of the Libraries Transform Book Pick, and After the Flood will be available for download October 7—21, 2019 on our Overdrive site. There will be no waitlists or holds for the title. Only a library card and the Libby app are needed to download the ebook. Don’t have a library card? First – for shame! Second – come get one at the Library (it’s free and easy).
Post-apocalyptic at first blush, this title takes place about a century from now, our world utterly transformed by a 100 year flood leaving little more than mountaintops for dry land. Myra and her young daughter are living on the water, searching for her older daughter, until coming in contact with another group of survivors who may have a common goal. Storms, pirates, and a near-mutiny nearly destroy their plans, but they continue to push ahead. This is an intriguing and innovative woman-centered swashbuckling quest narrative which centers on the social impact of climate change.
