Newsletter #2
January 12, 2010

We hope each of you had a blessed Christmas and we wish you a wonderful year ahead!

Thank you to all who have contacted us individually to make sure this year’s event is still on track.  We’ve waited to send this newsletter until we had a definite timetable for the shipment of the sample sets of books.

I.  Sample Sets –

We have had to substitute one new title in the menu of book choices for the children.  We were having delivery issues with a book called “The Great Nursery Rhyme Disaster.”  Rather than risk disappointing children and not being able to fulfill their choice we decided at the last minute to go with a book titled “Dinosaurs Love Underpants.”  While this is perhaps not classic American literature we suspect it will be a popular choice for the children.  Thanks for your patience with us on things such as this.

We ordered 250 sets of each of the six selected titles this year – 1,500 books!!  These have arrived at the State Library and yours will be shipped to you in the next week.  You will not receive enough sets for each classroom to have their own.  Typically we ask buildings with multiple first grade classes to share a set.

Please remember these sample sets become part of your final inventory to fill the children’s orders at your celebration.  Please make plans to retrieve all the sample sets from the schools after the children have made their selections.
