How Do I . . .
. . . get a library card?
Library cards are issued free of charge to county residents aged 18 or over upon presentation of a photo ID with permanent address. Cards may be requested at any library branch. If your photo ID does not show your permanent address, please bring separate proof of address within the county, such as a utility bill, bank statement, or rent receipt in your name.
Those under 18 requesting cards must have a parent or guardian accompany them to sign the application form. Parents are responsible for any fees associated with their minor child's card.
. . . replace a lost library card?
A fee of $1 is charged to replace stolen, lost or damaged library cards. You will need to present photo ID at a library service desk to get a replacement card.
. . . find my PIN?
Your PIN is the password associated with your account. If you do not know your PIN, you may request it here. Note: you must have a valid email address on file to use this method.
If you do not have an email on file with the library, please call (307) 577-7323 or ask for your PIN at any library branch.
. . . renew my library checkouts?
Most items may be renewed one time, provided another borrower has not requested that item. To renew your items go to My Account and click "Review My Account / Renew My Materials." You will be asked to log in with your library card number (found on the back of your card) and PIN. Items must be renewed before they become overdue.
Renewals may also be requested in person at any library branch or by phone: (307) 577-7323 ext. 4. You will need your library card number and information about the items you would like to renew.
. . . place a hold request?
Hold requests may be placed on items that are currently checked out, or being ordered by the library. To place a hold online, find the item in the Library Catalog, go to the "Item Details" screen, and press the bright green "Place Hold" button. You will need your library card number and PIN.
Holds may also be requested in person at any library branch or by calling (307) 577-7323.
. . . find out where an item is located in the library?
Here is the general layout of where items can be found in the main library in Casper:
Mainfloor - Adult fiction, magazines & newspapers, items on hold, music CDs, movies (fiction), audio books
Mezzanine (above the Tech Center) - Teen fiction and nonfiction books (grades 7-12)
2ndFloor - Adult nonfiction, nonfiction DVDs, reference materials, special collections (Wyoming History, Petroleum, Hunting & Fishing), Teen Zone overflow: graphic novels
Librarians on all floors are happy to help you find what you need
When looking for a specific item listed in the Library Catalog, the "Call Number" will show where the item is located. You can find the ranges of call numbers on the end of each book shelf. If you have trouble finding one, please ask a librarian.
