Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library is a volunteer organization which supports the Natrona County Public Library System. Fundraising by the Friends contributes about 4 percent towards the library's annual budget.
Friends' Mission
To foster closer relations between the Natrona County Public Library and the citizens of Natrona County; to promote knowledge of the functions, resources, services and needs of the library; to lead in the development of a program for the extension and improvement of library services and resources and to aid in the provision of adequate housing and other facilities of the library.

Special Projects
Over the years, the Friends organization has supported special needs of the library. The Friends support Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), an early readers program conducted by Children's staff in local schools. In recent years, the Friends purchased furnishings for the renovated Children's Department, and continue to support special programs such as visits by children's authors. Other support comes from the Friends to increase the number of new best sellers and also purchase a collection of hardbound classics for the Library.
Donations of Materials
The library accepts donations of materials, including used books, records, tapes, magazines and computer materials, but reserves the right to evaluate all gifts in accordance with the criteria applied to library materials purchased or weeded from the collection. Gift materials are only accepted with the stipulation that they might not be added to the collection or might be transferred to another library. Gift additions must meet the same selection criteria as purchased materials. In some cases, titles are received or purchased which would not have been acquired from library funds because of budget limitations.
Items not needed for the library's collection are passed along to the Friends for their Book Sale. Any donated materials may be left in the Used Book Drop next to the elevator on the First Floor of the Main Library. Please call 237-4935 if you have questions about donations to the library.

Annual Spaghetti Dinner
The Annual Spaghetti Dinner is a gathering of the members of the Friends of the Library organization to share a meal with friends and honor the volunteers.
