The Natrona County Library will host Matt Ventimiglia on Thursday, August 17 at 6:30 p.m. Ventimiglia ventured to the Java Sea and Indonesia to chase the total solar eclipse of March 9, 2016. Along the way he had breakfast with orangutans, encountered the legendary Komodo Dragon, visited Borobudur, stood before the Cikoneng Lighthouse, and caught fleeting views of the volcanic wonderland at Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Ventimiglia’s travelogue slideshow will cover these adventures, a brief geological and natural history of the Indonesian archipelago, and conclude with a preview of this year’s Great American Total Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017, the first to be seen in the contiguous states of the USA since 1979. Ventimiglia is a Griffith Observatory Museum Guide, and holds a BA in Physics, MA in Cinema, MS in Geology, and a MA in History. He has travelled to all seven continents and has seen eleven total solar eclipses, five annular eclipses, two transits of Venus, and three transits of Mercury.
