Since early November, library patrons have been learning about the history of baseball’s Negro leagues through the exhibition: “Pride and Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience.” Now Natrona County citizens have a chance to meet two of the players up-close.

Washington played for the Chicago American Giants and the New Orleans/Houston Eagles. He is also a 1st Division Marine and a two-time Purple Heart recipient.

Mr. O'Neal played for the Indianapolis Clowns. The Negro League franchise which survived right on through till 1988. O'Neal played in the late 50's and early 60's as an outfielder where Mr. Washington was a left-handed pitcher.

Pride and Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience, a traveling exhibition for libraries, was organized by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Cooperstown, New York, and the American Library Association Public Programs Office, Chicago.
