COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Introduction to Computers
If you are new to the world of computing, this class is for you! You will learn about the different parts of a computer and practice using a mouse, keyboard and navigating Microsoft Windows including opening and closing documents. Introduction to Computers will prepare you for its companion class, Introduction to the Internet.
Introduction to the Internet
This class covers the basic uses of the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser to "surf" the World Wide Web. Students will learn to use search engines to find information on the Internet, address bar, button bar, URL's, hypertext links, domains, and more. Instruction will also be provided on using the library's web-based catalog system.
(Pre-requisite: Students must be familiar with basic personal computer use and know how to use a mouse.)
Introduction to Microsoft Word
This class will provide participants with hints and tips to increase your word processing efficiency.
(Pre-requisite: Basic knowledge of using a keyboard and mouse.)
Introduction to E-mail
One of the most commonly used features of the Internet is electronic mail, or e-mail. In this class, learn how to use features of Yahoo free e-mail services -- which are transferable to other e-mail programs.
(Pre-requisite: Basic knowledge of browsing the web or Introduction to the Internet Class.)
REGISTRATION
Computer classes will be held in the Technology Center at the Public Library downtown, located at 307 East Second Street. Because class size is limited to 16 individuals, interested individuals should call 237-4935 x125 to make reservations or sign up at the library's reference desk.
