Are you on the look-out for the latest novels by Grisham, Evanovich and Robb? How about searching for a variety of viewpoints on hot political issues? Perhaps you’d like a new movie? You can find all this and more among the 12,845 new items added to your Natrona County Public Library over the past 8 months. Averaging 53 items per day, these new books, movies, CDs and audio books for adults, teens and children are largely made possible through Optional One-Cent Sales Tax.

In addition to new publications from standard popular authors, your library has also added a number of equally engaging novels from lesser known authors. For instance Sharon Owens’s “The Tea House on Mulberry Street ,” which is similar to the works of Maeve Binchy and Rosemunde Pilcher. Set in Ireland , this novel centers around an ordinary tea house, leading the reader through the stories of several locals as they reach important turning points in their lives. Don’t worry if you don’t see this book or others you’re searching for on the shelf – they’re probably just checked out. Ask a librarian about putting it on reserve, and we’ll call you when it’s available.

For readers interested in real people, several good books are available, including Essie Mae Washington-Williams’s “Dear Senator: A Daughter's Memoir.” In this fascinating autobiography, Washington-Williams, former Senator Strom Thurmond’s illegitimate child, recounts her numerous visits with her father and how they shaped her life.

Teens also have a wide variety of new items to select from, including three new magazines: “Animerica,” for Anime aficionados, “Pangoria,” for fantasy buffs, and “Starlog,” for science fiction fans. The third book in Ann Brashare’s popular Pants series in also out. Check out “Girls in Pants” before the movie, “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” is released in June. And for those planning ahead for SAT testing, the new test guides are on the shelves.

Children’s books comprise a large number of new library items. In addition to replacing worn, beloved classics like Dr. Seuss books, your librarians are constantly on the look-out for new titles and authors. Younger children will delight in Amy Timberlake’s “The Dirty Cowboy,” the tale of a cowboy who decides it’s time for his yearly bath. The trouble starts after he bathes and his faithful dog doesn’t recognize his smell, refusing to let him have his clothes. The book’s illustrations add to children’s enjoyment of the story.

Jeff Corwin is also making an appearance at your library. Join Jeff as he sloshes through mud in “Into Wild Costa Rica” or as he wrangles crocodiles in “Into Wild Florida.” The Jeff Corwin Experience Book Series will bring you face to face with the most dangerous and exotic animals the world has to offer.

If these books pique your interest and you’d like to find out more about other new titles in books, movies and music, drop by Natrona County Public Library and reap the rewards of your One-Cent money at work.
