The Board of Trustees has defined your public library’s mission as follows:
“Your Library: Advocating for literacy, education and a thriving community.”
- Door to Learning and Literacy
- Popular Materials Library
- Education Support Center (Elementary & Secondary)
- Reference Library
NCPL is a County Agency
The individuals serving as Trustees are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. They are charged with operating and maintaining your public library. The Board of Trustees is responsible for communicating with the appropriate county officials about library needs, proposing an annual budget for library operation and maintenance and overseeing expenditures of budgeted money. Trustees represent the interests of the community to the library staff and the county, and establish policies regarding the operation of the library system.
The library staff is employed by the board and is responsible for effective administration and operation of the library, including materials and equipment selection and distribution, personnel, and hours of public service. The Library Director reports to the board on all matters of library operation.
